2004 Volkswagen gti 1.8 manual, I replaced the starter cause the car would crank but not start, now after I installed a new starter the car won't even crank and they battery is good and all the lights come on, could someone help?

I would check connection between battery cable and battery, loose, dirty, or bad connection could cause lights to come on, but not enough power to crank. Could also be bad battery cable. Would start there.
