2010 mustang 4.0 cooling fan issue

Hi I need help trouble shooting my issue I have a
2010 Ford Mustang v6 and it keeps overheating
due to the fact that the cooling fan is not kicking on
and the ac keeps kicking on and off I put a test light
to the red and black wires that connect to the moter
I have power to the red but no ground?? So I ran a
wire from the negative battery post to the black wire
(ground) wire going into the fan moter the boom it
kicks on so why am I not getting ground to my fan
moter?? Please help thank you

All modern vehicles are ground side controled from the computer 12 volts to the fan is correct at all times. check the cooling fan module and or relay you can look these up online along with the test procedure.
