2011 Hyundai Sonata

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2011 Hyundai Sonata will intermittently not
start. Everything turns on except the engine. It is a
push button start, but the key faub doesn't seem to
be the issue, the car recognizes that the key is in
the car.  When the engine won't turn over, moving
the shifter has seemed to help (sometimes we have
to jiggle it around multiple times), or we use the shift
lock release and move the shifter around a few
times. It does make a "whirring" sound when it
won't start.... Any ideas? We have a service
appointment but I'd appreciate any input before we
head in.

I should also mention we tested the battery which was in great shape!
