Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a grand prix gtp 40th anniversary
supercharged and had the transmission go out. It
only goes in reverse and park. Found a used
transmission on craiglist from a 1999 grand prix
transmission # (4t65e-hd) Would that be
compatible?

If it came out of a supercharged model probably. 1997 thru '03 are the same. BUT compare the tag on your (dead) transmission to the tag on the replacement transmission to be sure. As long as they match you'll be ok. GT (non-supercharged) and GTP (Supercharged) used different transmissions. Also, make sure the replacement transmission hasn't lost overdrive and torque converter clutch lock in. You'll need to drive it to determine that though. That's a common failure on those transmissions. Especially if it's a higher mileage unit. HTH. -Jim
