Rear axle swap

Question type: General

I've got a 1993 Suburban 2500 and am wondering
if a 2004 Chevy 2500 rear axle would work in my
suburban? Both are 14 bolt with same gear ratio,
but 04 has disc brakes.

The hydraulic braking system will require modifications, for a rear disk brake axle from a simple proportioning valve to possibly a master cylinder change ...parking brake can be a headache. Check the axle dimensions (width) etc. lug spacing and the drive shaft connection plate, and spring mounts must be the same. compare the manufacture and series of the '04 to the OLD '93 ..Don't forget to check the final drive RATIO...14 sometimes its easier to purchase a rear disk brake "KIT"
