Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Just got a 2004chevy cav gave to me. It needed a
fuel pump I had that put in. Few days later I hear a
really light knockin so I take it to a shop and they
said it was a rod and I need a motor. My question
should I invest and get one?, he quoted me 2400
people say I can get it for less money.  The car is
perfect other then that inside and out. What should
I do

Shop for a crate engine online you can find one much cheaper. The mechanic will not be happy because he cannot mark you up on the price, and won't guarantee the engine but you could even have him pulled one from a 1995-2005 Cavalier (the engines are the same). Get a low milage used one at a salvage yard for $900- $1100. Cavaliers despite what people might tell you are troopers. Slap and engine in and drive her another 100k. Best of luck
