Question type: General

I have a 1999 ford ranger xlt 4.0l auto
trans. When it sitting in park idling it
sounds like there's rocks rolling around in
the trans. When you take off from a stop it
has no power but when you getup in the
gears it's got all the power you need just
not on takeoff.

Sounds like it is taking off in a high gear (3rd maybe) either a stuck solenoid or internal parts failure. With the noise you hear there is probably something broken inside the trans.
