Is it safe to use royal purple oil in an 01 trans am just purchased or mobil 1 syn.

The ls1 seems to have a lite piston slap noise. We
thought thr royal purple syn oil would help with
that. Car cam from a ford dealership with 36000.
They did change the oil with reg motorcraft oil.

any synthetic oil is safe as long as you use correct oil grade recommended by manufacturer.. and once you start using synthetic, you should always use synthetic, it is NOT recommended to change back and forth with regular oil..

We installed 5w30 as per manufacturer recommendations but the piston slap seems louder. Should we switch to a 10w30 blend?
