Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I own a 85 Corvette and I'm having some
problems with it. When I bought the car it had a
misfire. I fixed the misfire when I changed the
plugs, wires and the distributor cap. The car
then ran awesome. One day it stalled out on me
so I changed the fuel filter which was clogged
up. Later then when I start the car my rpms
keep bouncING between 30 and 1200. I cleaned
some of the throttle and it kinda fixed it. I
changed my fuel pump and air filter which
helped a bit. After driving the car for a bit the
engine gets hot. So I turn it off and it takes a
couple tries to turn it on. It stutters a bit then
drives fine.  So my problem right now is that the
rpms keep bouncing when it's parked and It
stalls once every couple of times when I'm

Look for vacuum leaks along the intake manifold gasket, and around the throttle body gasket. When the engine is cool, spray some carburetor cleaner anywhere there is vacuum. The rpm's of the engine will pick up when you come across a vacuum leak. Also there is a Air Idle Control Valve on the side of the throttle body that if you take it out and clean the port out good, and replace the AIC would help. Just take the throttle body off and clean it good.
