Which prius 2016 to get?

Question type: General

My husband and I are in the market for a car. It will be our very first so we
decided to get a new one. We also want a hybrid so we zoomed in on the
Prius 2016 (not C or V). It turns out the base Prius 2 uses a nickel battery
whereas all the others use a Lithium battery. Also at first we got excited
about the Prius 2 eco, but of course it is missing a few important features
such as spare tire + rear wiper. At this point, we are debating between a
Prius 2 and 3 simply based on the battery unless we are missing something
else. None of the extras on the 3 really matter to us (audio, charger,
moonroof, etc).

Any input regarding Prius 2 vs 3 would be appreciated.
Thank you,

Hey gchoueiter, questions like this almost always boil down to a combination of personal preference, and cost/value analysis. You're right about the Prius 2 using a nickle-metal hydride battery, while the higher trims use a lithium-ion. The lithium-ion battery is newer technology, and is also less damaging to the environment in production. You can get the new battery in the two eco, but the three will also provide some creature comforts like leatherette door trim and steering wheel, plus navigation and HD Radio. The MSRP difference between the two eco and the three is $1550, so it all comes down to whether you think the benefits of the three are worth the extra cost.
