grinding in the rear

I'm looking to buy this 97 grand voyager but they
said there is like a grinding noise in the rear what
could it be

It could be a number of things. Might be that the rear end is low on fluid or has been for awhile and that it is starting to eat away at the gears in there


Or a bad wheel bearing or axle bearing.

Bearing probably, voyagers are FWD so no rear end.
