I have a F350 and I had problems when shifting to 4 wheel drive. I have a manual transmission with automatic lock in hubs and it did not want to stay in 4 wheel drive so I know a lot of Ford owners have this problem, so I changed it to the manual lock in hub. I just lock the hubs in before going off road or in the snow. It solved my problem.
