Which Diesel hatchback to buy?

Hi all. I'm looking for a decent 1.9 TDI
hatchback. I've been looking at Polo, Golf 5,
Cupra and also Grande Punto. As far as
reliability and costing is concerned, what is
my better option? I am looking 2nd hand so
what sort of mileage is too high on these
vehicles?

You would like something that is easy to maintain, reliable of course, something you would feel safe and secure in. At least that is my preferences. I am a Chevy guy so my suggestion is to look at Chevy SUV's . Ford is ok I guess, but stay away from Jeep, and Dodge. Lots of problems.
