88 f150. Transmission help

Asked by Dec 30, 2015 at 05:46 PM

Question type: General

I have an 88 f150 5.0 2wd when I bought this truck
first gear would slip I but some sea foam in the
transmission it fixed the problem for a week or so
all of a sudden it goes to shift into second and the
truck jerks forward and shifts back into first. So it
tries to shift into second but jumps them shift back
into first and has always leaked a little fluid but
have always made sure it stays full. Need an idea
of what might be wrong or if I need to get a new
transmission and if so what years will fit! Anything
will help thank you

If you have a trany shop around, best have them look at it to see if it is a minor fix or if a replacement is called for.
