Did the chrome go through the key hole or under it on a 64 ss impala? Also why do some only have chrome on top half of panels instead of upper and lower.

The Caprice was the top of the full size line. Then the Impala, then at the lower end you had the Biscayne, and Bel-Air. All these models used the same basic dash. The higher end models had more "glitz" (chrome) than the lower end models. My suggestion would be to track down a sales brochure and examine the pictures. That'll give you historical correctness for your Impala. HTH. -Jim
