1997 Silverado after over55 mph the rpm's stay to high. Then check engen light flashes. Help please

if your engine light is flashing that means you have a misfire condition, I would start with a tuneup first

Sounds like you have 2 things going on here. The flashing check engine light is warning you that the engine is misfiring and damaging the catalytic converter. The high RPMs at expressway speeds indicates that the transmission is not shifting into overdrive and the torque converter clutch in the transmission is not locking in. HTH. -Jim
