Our 1999 chevy lumina sometimes starts and sometimes does not. We replaced the starter and it is still doing it. How do we fix it?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

We think it may be the security chip in the
key or something between the starter and
ignition.

Yeah, lights come on. I can hear the fuel pump prime when I turn the key to the run position, but turning the key to the start position does nothing. We want to thank you for taking an interest in this problem. Any help you give is greatly appreciated.

i don't think it is your security but that is a guess. it did the same thing with the old starter?

Have you ever try the solenoid?

I believe the new starter we put on had the solenoid already attached. It is the smaller unit on top of the starter, right? If so, then it was replaced with the new starter.

Sorry Rhodes2345, yes, it did the same with the old starter.
