While driving as it starts shifting it acts like it's not getting fuel. It has an old mechanical fuel pump so I thought they were either broken or working with no in between. This is a 1978 Pontiac sunbird 4 cylinder 151 motor. Any ideas?

Not so...It could be the fuel pump is starting to go, I would also check for vacuum leaks....http://www.aa1car.com/library/fuel_pump_mechanical.htm
