I have a 2001 Chevy Silverado 2500hd with a 6 litre auto tran.. My rear engine seal is leaking and I want to replace it.. I have heard and YouTubed lots of issues with having to drop the oil pan?

engine is still in the vehicle.. I've
pulled my T-case for other reasons
and am tempting the rear seal

i would not think you have to drop the pan if it is the rear main seal you are replacing. but you do have to remove the trany.
