A lot!!! At the top end of the mpg scale will be cars like the Toyota Prius and the Volkswagen TDI. Then you come down to the 35-40 mpg range with Corollas, Civics, Focus, Cruz and other smaller vehicles. The great news is that most mid-size cars like Accords, Camrys, Fusions, Impalas, Malibus and others will all get better than 24 mpg on a combined average (city and highway driving). Any specific vehicle you have a question about?

Bamajsk814 has posted the perfect answer. My Corolla gets 38-40 mpg

My gone (but not forgotten) 2011 Mazda MX-5 Miata got 23-24 MPG and THAT was a sportscar! LOL! Better question might be, which cars get 40+ MPG.
