When you say a cold start engine noise do you mean like a engine tap ?

If the noise is lifter tap.change oil to 5w20.

If it is a engine tap change oil and substitute one quart of oil with Lucas Engine Oil Stabilizer. It will stop the tap. Guaranteed I can say that because I have seen it work.

Any engine tapping or clicking noise. Also oil additives are forbidden for Dodge Rams, and changing the oil vicosity won't make any difference - the noise will keep coming back. If your Dodge Ram has this problem email me at
