You really need to find out if it is fuel or spark that goes away. Your year make and model were known to have ignition module and distributor pick coil problems right along with fuel pump and fuel pump relay failures. Will it start up after it sits for about 20 to 30 minutes? If so I would replace the ignition module and distributor pickup coil, especially if they have never been replaced. Then go from there.
