Is there an ecm on a 1976 ford 390. Mine runs for a while then dies. You let it sit for a while and then it starts back up. Does that have a in line fuel filter that could be plugged.

No there is no ECU or PCM if that is what you mean. It has a no-mechanical breaker points distributor. I have the same year and engine, and I added an in-line filter for a custom second gas tank, the 16 gallon tank behind the seat gave me a range of maybe 200miles at best, usually less. There is a fine mesh screen on the carb where the fuel line attaches, if it has the original Motorcraft 2bbl
