do you have power going to distributor and coil

I will have to check that when the truck turns over i can hear a snapping sound coming from the distributor like an electric snap i messed with it 6 months ago when i changed the coil and points and condenser and after kept turning over it fired for 2 seconds then died and that was it im wondering if it might be a ground problem
