Why wont my 2011 ram 1500 wont start unless jumped
hmm.. So it starts / acts "normal" while being jumped but when you try it without the cables it "clicks" one time each time you turn the key? If that is correct, some possibilities are 1. weak battery (cell failing) 2. weak connection / corrosion at either + / - battery terminal 3. weak connection / corrosion at the + starter connection 4. ditto to ground connections from the battery to body and body to engine. If you know your battery is good, you can try placing just one of the jumpers on the - battery and the other on a (non cast aluminum / iron) hard part on the engine (like a steel bracket holding a throttle cable or a bolt/threads on the exhaust manifold). If it starts then it is a ground fault to your engine. If that does nothing you can try (remove both cables first) going + battery to the large + nut on the starter (the other wire comes from the ignition). Questions: Since this started - Has your engine bay gotten wet recently? Cleaned it? Puddles/rain? Has this recently started with the cold weather?
