My 1999 ford ranger will not engauge in four wheel drive , any ideas on where to start on a fix

It is slow to into 4x4 high and will not go nto 4x4 low

I got the shift out of four-wheel-drive but it’s still shifting as if it was still in four-wheel-drive for low so what do I do
