I have a 1996 Chevrolet Z71 4X4 that will not go into gear from neutral only when turned off it will go in gear. If I start it in gear it has to forced to change gears (grinding gears).

I have replaced the slave cylinder and is
thinking it could be the master cylinder.

Sounds like a bad throw out bearing since you're having problems while the engine is running

    The clutch slave is bad. I think it needs replacing or bleeding. I am concerned that shifting into gear does not prevent the truck from moving. The truck is a 1996 ford ranger.
