1997 ford explorer xlt how to remove the pin in the rear end to take out axle

There is a special bolt that holds the pin in the carrier, remove the bolt, rotate the carrier enough for the pin to clear and slide it out. Then push the axle in enough to drop out the C ring and slide out axle.
