Do you have to pay their asking price and the monthly amount or do you pay the monthly amount towards their asking price?

Most dealers prefer to discuss monthly payments instead of asking price because they can usually make extra profit by getting a customer to agree to a monthly amount. If you first agree on a selling price and then negotiate a monthly price it is likely you will make the best deal for yourself.
