77 f150 engine sthraight 6 why do they take the engine to the machine shop? And is the price included when u getting it done by mechanic ?

Inline 6 may have a warped head, or the block may have to be deck milled, some shops don't have the equipment to replace the cam bearings, or they just have sent it out for pressure testing and magnaflux testing, talk to them about it, they should notify you if something is out of the usual.

77 f150 does not come with a catalyc cnverter how does this truck pass the smog chk... ? They sd thts it throwing a lot of fuel ? Huh what do I have to fix or get ? Rebuild Is done.


1977 is still a carbed engine so most likely it needs a carb overhaul. !977 was a little bit crazy as far as emissions were concerned, Ford had a heavy duty half that was catalyst free and all of the 3/4 tons were exempt. HTH
