i have a 1997 dodge ram with a 5.9. blew top rad hose truck over heated.when i hit the gas it moves. has trouble shifting gear wont shift unless i let up on the gas. then has a very slow pickup. but it starts good

tell me you did not refill with gas station tap water, but elected to spend 10 bucks on the right stuff~

that there sounds like flow problems through the radiator...perhaps get a new radiator now~...as far as running poorly, but starting good am going to point to the IAT or intake air temperature sensor as this will tell the computer that it's cold out or hot out at the intake...combined with Data from the block temperature sensor will tell the injectors how to enrichen the mix~
