I have a 1980 Gmc sierra 1500. My battery and alternator is strong. But my battery light is on, what will cause that? And where will I find the sensor to fix it?

I would check all battery connections. Make sure they are clean and tight. Also check negative connections on frame and motor for the same. Check battery for proper voltage and alternator output voltage. It should be around 14.5 volts.
