They got caught!

Question type: General

Just something I ran across:
DMV Investigators Bust Unlicensed Car Dealer Ring
Over 200 Vehicles were sold with False Odometer Mileage

Sacramento – On June 18, 2013, Murad Alrawashdeh 24, and Rami Alrawashdeh 20
were arrested in Fresno alleging several felony counts of grand theft, altering
vehicle certificates of title, vehicle odometer tampering and acting as
unlicensed car dealers. A warrant is still outstanding on a third suspect, Atef
Alrawashdeh 30 who is being sought by law enforcement officials.

The ten-month investigation was the result of a victim purchaser who attempted
to register a vehicle with considerably less mileage that showed on previous
registration transactions on file at the DMV. The vehicle was originally
advertised on and a review of the listing by investigators
revealed that the seller(s) had posted more than 180 vehicles for sale in a
15-month period. The cars for sale were 2003-2007 Toyota Corollas and Honda

A search warrant was ultimately served in Fresno on June 13, 2013, which
resulted in the seizure of odometer clusters, cash, computers and ledgers that
detailed each vehicle sold. Based on the seized ledger information, it is
estimated that the ring profited approximately $296,000 over a two and half year
period with the sale of more than 212 vehicles with altered odometers.

There's good and bad in all form's of race and religion. Just because they got caught, doesn't mean there isn't a good person with a middle eastern name out there selling used autos somewhere. NOT Critizeing you DavidH25 and appreciate the information, but lets try to still be open minded (as hard as it can be) even after 9/11.

The names were of no meaning to me. If it was Smith or Jones does not have anything to do with it as far as I'm concerned...just thought it was interesting. All is cool Fordtudor...I wouldn't care if they were Baptist Catholic Atheist or Islam. Peace my friend...

First of all, I can say with certainty that DavidH25 was NOT pointing a finger at the race/religion of the persons selling these cars, but simply relaying a news story. I think what IS important to note is that these cars were sold on Craigslist, which has come under fire in the recent past for other matters. I can tell you that I have looked at cars listed by private parties on CL in the past, BUT after a young man was brutally killed in Philadelphia, PA in couple of months ago (not far from where I live) after simply doing what I did (go to look at a car that I was interested in)....I will NOT be using CL to buy ANYTHING in the future. DavidH25's message points out one of the many serious issues with using CL, in my honest opinion. Thank you for sharing!!
