get a fresh battery...five years old is like tryin' to get grandpa across the street...no seriously a battery which is comprimized will tax the alternator to full potential...need a new battery....clean the black cable that connects to the chassis/ground....nice and shiny to allow the full 300 cold-cranking-amps to get pulled through there....get a fresh healthy battery in there with clean connections to the frame then to the engine...those big meaty 1/0 battery cables wirebrush to get 'em clean and put it all together and don't forget the positive terminal connection to the solenoid and the little lolipop connector that is feeds from the alternator and accesory devices~ once you have clean ground, we can check voltages at the instrument panel~
