I rebuilt a 1979 Grand prix (301 V8), car turns over but will not light off??

My 1979 Grand prix turns over with the battery but wont light off. Even with starting fluid
sprayed in the carburetor, Just finihed rebuilding the engine....

Take a look at distributor to see if it is in properly. Static time it, then start.
