Good question,,,,Sometimes the Dealer (the smart ones) will reveal themselves in the wording of their ad, or you can see who they are if you look at the pics. A lot of times you just have to send them a message thru CarGurus to find out WHO they are.

The trouble with that is that a dealer ;; after you put ypour phone number etc.;; will hound you forever: Also there are dealers who I know that I would never deal with: I bought my last four vehicles from first finding them on cars-for-sale websites, but I like to look a while, finding a few I am interested in , then actualy physicaly see them, drive, ourchase them:

To avoid the issue brought up by Amorak, you could find a local dealership that would look into it for you. A lot of dealerships claim they will find you the car you want if they don't have it in stock. Give them the web page. They may be able to get the car for a lower price but would likely charge some sort of fee for delivery. They also might be required to do a safety check on it which may cost you as well. Not a bad deal if the car you want is in another state.

Amorak....I actually dealt with several Dealers on here and eventually bought one advertised by a Mitsubishi Dealer on CarGurus site. Yes, you DO have to put a phone# in the 'Contact Seller" area (You can always put in a fake BS phone# in there)...BUT what I did is click the "Personalize Message" and TOLD THEM that I wanted to be contacted by E-MAIL ONLY and make it clear to NOT contact me via phone initially under any circumstances. Since nowadays a majority of Dealers have dedicated Internet Sales Depts. who take incoming inquiries from here or their own websites, they have no problem reaching out to you via e-mail and will respect your desire to NOT have phone contact until you're ready to talk to them. Trust me..they DON'T want to lose a potential Buyer by pissing them off AFTER you've TOLD them not to call. This strategy worked very well for me!
