Will 2004 escape transmission fit into 2002?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

After inquiring with several transmission shops, I was told that a 2004 Escape transmission will not work
in a 2002. Both are 3.0 v6 4x4. The 2002 manufacture date is May 2002. What needs to be changed to
make this swap work or are the tranny guys correct? Thanks

David, Thanks for the response. I found a 2004 transmission for a pretty good price, but did not buy it because of the information from the transmission guys that only a 2002 will work in a 2002 Escape. They said the electronics will not match up. Thanks again.
