my 2003 gran am gt has to be started sometimes by shooting starter fluid in the carb.Any ideas what's causing the problem?

I was thinking it may have to do with the security system.

that thing you call a carb is now called a throttle body cars these have fuel injectors try some kind of injector cleaner that you mix with your gas and if you still have problems you could have a bad injector.The furthest thing from my mind is a problem caused from a security system.that system has nothing to do with gas getting to the throttle body!
