what is the start in second gear button for
what car?it's probably for overdrive.. but have a look at the manual just to be sure...
Not sure what make or model, but it might be that your transmission has a "granny gear" that is a super high gear meant for towing. If your tranmission indeed had such a setup, it would not always need to be in first gear.
Driving during a snow storm, keeping the car in a higher gear was helpful. Less torque to the wheels. That is, start in second gear instead of first. If it is a manual transmission. Or if you have an automatic transmission with a switch that alllows you to start in second gear.
Dan is correct. The "start in second" function is for driving in low traction environments.
better for snow.. volvo and soon other manufacture call it winter mode same thing different name...
