It's bad enough that these questions get asked so often, but it's worse that people still give the wrong answer. Fastest street legal production car is the SSC Ultimate Aero TT... Maxximus only holds records for 0-60 and 0-100 while not on DOT rubber IE not street legal... and it's a one off based on a kit car. If you want non street legal one offs then look at the jet powered cars going for land speed records...

well at the moment its the ssc aero which is 411km but bugatti's new limited edition veyron centeraire is rumoured to have 1350hp and go up and past 420km yeah the aero might be 4km faster then the bugatti veryon 16.4 but top speed aside the veyron is so much nicer inside. leather seats instead of what i believe is cloth in the aero wider seats so you can get really comfy when your just cruising. easier to read dash and overall a nicer interior.
