will a 125cc motocross engine with its transmission be adequate for a go cart?

hell ya, a motorcross 2-stroke enigne would have at least 10 hp if it's rather new.

I'm imagining a somewhat recent 125cc engine would have around 20-30 HP. That's almost what modern shifter karts have today. So yeah, it'll be adequate. You oughta be seeing 0-60 times of under 5 seconds with 30 HP if it's well put together.
