Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 1978 Chevy Cheyenne K10 will not start. On Christmas
Eve I had drove turned off the truck and about 10 minutes
later went to start it and wouldn't. I had put in a new
Distributor and a new ignition switch in, and still will not
start.

Cranks ( turns over ) but won't start I take it , check for fuel pressure , spark , motor to chassis ground , Look for a rotted gas line above the rear axle block , It won't leak because it's up high but the pump will suck air ,

Spray a little starting fluid down the carburetor. It should run for a few seconds on that. If it does you have a fuel problem. Bad fuel pump, damaged fuel line, stuck carburetor float, or possibly the choke plate is stuck open. If it won't run on the starting fluid at all you either have no spark or poor compression. If you have spark you need to run a compression test. If all cylinders test very low or zero the timing chain has jumped. Hope that helps! Jim

I put in new spark plugs in yesterday morning and still didn't want to start. Not sure what to do next.

Follow my instructions above and let's go from there. Without proper troubleshooting you're just wasting money! Let us know what you find out! Jim
