2004 ram 1500 no crank, new PCM, electrical?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Working on a 04 ram. Problem started with key turning on,
security light staying on, gauges reading zero, no relay
clicking and no crank. Found ASD relay not getting ground.
Tested by bypassing and connecting proper pin to ground
and truck would start.

Also OBD2 scanner not connecting unless grounding relay.

Installed new PCM. Same thing. If I ground relay or wire I
can connect to obd2 and have programmed vin, skim, and
key.

Other thing worth noting is that when I go to unlock truck
with key it pulled it back to lock instantly.

This sounds like a security system problem. With the security light staying on and the door relocking itself the security system has shut down the vehicle. Best thing to do is have it towed to your local Dodge Dealer for repairs. Without the proper equipment this is not a do it yourselfer fix. Hope that helps! Jim

My scanner has the ability to program the PCM VIN, view SKIM and program it and Program chip keys. What should I check out on it

Note the diagram for asd relay. If you unplug the relay and use jumper wire on the cavities for switch side of relay, right side in diagram, cavities 30 and 87, that will send voltage to everything the asd relay controls, if it then starts and runs, but, otherwise won't, the problem is on control side of relay, the left side in diagram. The control side needs voltage and ground, as you know, that bottom wire in diagram, left side of relay is ground. Grounded by computer. Maybe problem with wiring connector or wiring circuit? That's all I know. good luck

If I want to remove the skim module from the PCM my scanner can reprogram these things do I have to unplug it before I clear it or can someone walk me through a simple way of doing it with my scanner

Most vehicles will have a separate anti theft module that gives the ok to the PCM to allow the vehicle to start and run once the correct keys are detected. Your scan tool must be able to communicate with that module. Once you've established communication with the module you can program the keys and fobs, if applicable, to the vehicle. Hope that helps! So I can only get codes and crank with the connector 3 pin 3 at PCM (other end is ASD relay) grounded. But what I found today is that when I crank it and it started, I could disconnect the wire and it stayed running.
