i have a 97 z71 with a 5.7 when it sits for a day or two. it is hard to crank. it drags like a weak battery or the timing is off. once you let go of the key and it kicks back. it cranks easy.

Are you losing coolant? If so perhaps it's leaking into a cylinder through a bad intake manifold gasket or head gasket. If not, double check all your electrical connections at the battery and starter. Be sure they're all clean and tight. HTH. -Jim
