Dodge Stratus 2005 XLT

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My Dodge Stratus 2005 XLT sometimes accelarates by itself when I am
idiling at a stop sign or light. The mechanic told me it has a transmission
problem $500 to just look at it and $2500 for a new transmission But I am
not so sure. Any ideas? I never did any transmission maintenance or fluid
change.
I would appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks

That sounds more like you have a vacuum leak or the Idle Air Control valve or Mass Air Flow sensor depending on which one is on your vehicle needs to be cleaned or replaced but it also would not hurt to change the transmission fluid and filter since you have never had it done.
