I have a 1996 Dodge 2500 I put an altenator in and it's been over charging

There's a few different options on that alternator, they all have different amps, did you make sure that the one that was put in had the same amps as the one that was taken out? Often there's no way to tell which one your vehicle has until the old alternator is removed and it should be stamped on a sticker on the alternator itself
