my 1988 dodge van wont start when it gets hot and loses fire but when it cools down it will start again till you shut it off

have you checked for codes. cycle your key on and off three times and leave it on the third time, the check engine light will stark flasking the codes, if it flashes 55 that is the end not a code.

Sounds like an ignition coil or ignition control module failure. Sometimes these components will work fine when cool or cold but will break down and fail when hot. HTH. -Jim
