my 96 dodge ram 1500 2wd automatic drive went out and when you put in drive you hear grinding but the reverse works

Not good. Have someone in your area to take a look at it. Sounds like internal transmission issues.

so does that mean the tranny is going out? the mechanic said that it is internal when he listened to it and said its internal
