It depends the 318's have an a-500 and the 360's have an a-518

if its 94+ the band adjustment technique as well as the torque spec will be different from the 500/518 since the 94+ transmissions are electronically controlled and therefore have less friction material on the band. but if your truck is a 94+ ram 1500 its going to have a 46RE transmission

hey dan you seem pretty knowledgable. i have a 2005 dodge ram slt with a 5.7 that when you take in or out of gear makes a clanking noise. had the u joints and driveshaft checked but nothing wrong. took to a transmission shop and they told me theyve never seen this problem at all. they had five techs look it and it was a great shop and has been in business for years and they didnt find anything as well. the thing shifts smooth and doesnt slip and thats what has them puzzled. any suggestions? they want 300.00 just to take it apart. thanks, chuck,

hey dan thats ok it does it all the time , sometimes you have to shift it back and fourth before it makes a loud one but basically does it all the time. i have 80,000 on her at the moment.

hey dan looks like the shear pin broke on the parking paw on the inside of the tranny. thanks for your help buddy.

my 2001 dodge ram 1500 goes through all gears while rear wheels are off the ground. When on the ground I only get reverse no forward gears

Have a 2004 Dodge ram 1500 5.7 hemi. It will only shift in first and second gear. The fluid is not burnt and there are very minimal clutch residue in the pan and it is through in codes for transmission what could be the problem
