On my 2004 dodge ram 1500 crew cab 4x4 4.7L the blinkers quit working when blinker arm is activated, then they start working again. At the same time my overhead guage that shows the outside temp, fuel milage, ect. shuts off when the blinkers cut in and out. This only happens when the truck is at a dead stop. could this be a short or something else going wrong?

Could be a short, but I would look to loose ground as well. I would go to fuse box and pull the fuses to systems affected. Check for proper operation of all other systems. If so start putting fuses back in one at a time making sure in-between that everything is ok. This should help you narrow it down. Also should mention to look for evidence of rodent damage. When mice chew off or partially chew off wires this can be a real pain.
